đŻď¸ How Do You Trust the Void?
A living Q&A on ego death + the sacred art of not emerging too soon.
Why This Q&A? Why Now?
In the quiet build-up to our upcoming program, The Sacred Art of Coming Undone, weâve been in close, heartfelt conversations.
Not in the spotlight.
Not on center stage.
But in the soft back-and-forth of DMs with women standing at the edge of something unknown.
Theyâve been sharing their raw questions. Weâve been listening with our whole bodies.
One of these beautiful, soul-journeying women asked us:
âSo⌠what does it actually look like, moment to moment, to trust the void and not rush to escape it?â
She said she can tell she keeps getting to the void⌠and then sling-shotting back to her old self the moment the void feels scary.
In essence, sheâs having a hard time trusting the process.
âAhhhâ, we exhaled. Because we know: this is the hardest part, and itâs also SO worth it.
This article is a woven response to those soul-led inquiries.
If youâre hovering between selves⌠we hope this meets you right there.
*A.I. transparency statement: we used AI in this article to help us format our original thought, and original writings, from our life experiences. Much of this is channeled through our bodies in pure flow, with A.I. being only a tool to support formatting and presentation.
PART I: đŤ On Surrender, Trust & Spiritual Physics
Q: What does âstay unattachedâ and âlisten to Spiritâ look like, moment to moment?
ANSWER: So⌠the thing is, itâs tempting in the void to try and connect with the future. And you can try. You might get glimpses.
But I find that when your frequency actually matches that of the deep, dark, and FERTILE soul of the under-earthâŚthe future isnât something that needs to be reached into. You essentially match the frequency of the future by not âneedingâ it, and then time collapses and you begin to get steady downloads.
When you trust the process and are willing to just BE dark soil instead of trying to be a growing tree something clicks.
When you genuinely donât have a preference for growth, and you trust that BEING in the void is growthâŚyou get the clearest vision of whatâs next. I know, itâs not logical!! When is magic ever logical? But it works.
â¨What does this look like on a day-to-day basis?
It can look like scrapping drafts and starting over.
It can look like one day catching an old narrative or performance pattern in your system and pressing pause. Making the new choice that feels right to your body.
It may consist of pruning your physical space, your social media, even your friendships or inputs so they support the emptiness.
Taking space, even temporarily, from anything or anyone⌠that makes you feel like you need to âbeâ or âdoâ something in order to matter.
You are not stuck. You are stewarding a vacuum of consciousnessâŚ
And thatâs sacred work ⌠working.
Q: What would you whisper to someone whoâs mid-darkness and doubting it all?
ANSWER: You are doubting, because you desire.
The doubt is showing you two things:
You are attached to having your outcome. That doesnât mean youâre doing it wrong, it means youâre a human who is opening yourself up to the current of divine flow. So itâs a good thing. It means youâre playing in the quantum realms. Go, Goddess-girl, go!
You arenât trusting. AGAIN, that doesnât mean youâre doing it wrong. It means you live in a world where your inherent connection to being a pure creator has a veil placed over it. The doubt is like dirt under your quantum-realm fingernails; it means youâve been digging in the dirt of your cosmic little garden, manifesting a new reality.
If you desire it, itâs because itâs already in your field, which lives within your heart. You canât mess this up, and itâs not going anywhere.
Donât be afraid youâll be abandonedâŚ. Expect miracles, expect help, expect support.
The thing, or the version of you youâre calling in, sheâs already on her way. We know this because you desired it. And desire is an instrument of truth. Our ego forgets that when it gets scared.
Desire is a divine memo from your own future.
So ultimately, weâre re-learning to trust our desires in this lifetime; to trust our visions.
The doubt? Itâs not a problem.
Itâs the contraction before the expansion. It exists so we can build the muscles of trust.
Because itâs trustânot proofâthat magnetizes the future youâre calling in.
So, let doubt be the micro-organism that it is and let it eat up the last remains of your old self. If youâre hit with a âdoubt-stormâ, itâs a sign youâre in the void, deep in it, and youâre getting closer to the new reality. :) go you!
Q: When did âyou have as much time as you needâ finally land in your body?
ANSWER:
Thank you to a take-away from Kate Northrupâs money program.
She said, âHealing: it takes as long as it takes.â
She was so comfortable with that non-sexy truth that it gave me permission to actually soften, deepen, and be present in her container. And what that led to?
A real quantum leap in the work I was doing. . . it freed up energy on the inside of me, I got back to enjoying the process while I stayed connected to my sense of vision for the future, and then pretty quickly my life began to reflect the new reality.
A lot of people teach this as manifestation⌠but what they forget or disconnect from is the ego death, and the consequent soul-birth that follow. THAT is where the life force flows from and what leads to intense, beautiful and LIVE life force and creation to begin meeting you in your reality and building you from the inside-out!
We slow down to speed up.
At Threshold Keepers, we call that âslowing up.â
Itâs a full orientation shift and one I protect fiercely now.
PART II: Regeneration vs. Stuckness (and the Signs of Sacred Becoming)
Q: Whatâs the difference between someone in the void whoâs regenerating⌠and someone who is just stuck?
ANSWER: You know the soil is alive when you can feel calm in the unknowing. Life will still be hard around you, but down in your body you feel peaceful and centered as you go through your day.
Your reality will start to pop and you may see synchronicities rising to meet you. A last-minute free hour where you can finish reading that book. A surprise âthank youâ from a family member. Suddenly magic happens, and youâre delighted and can truly feel the joy in your body.
Thatâs how you know youâre in the flow. Thatâs the real magic. Not necessarily the âresults,â but the co-creation of it all. Thatâs the part I love mostâworking WITH life.
Q: What nervous system cues tell you youâre supporting the void, not pathologizing it?
ANSWER: You notice your freak-outs and regressions into the past happen less frequently or less intensely. And when they do happen, you donât spend as much time, energy, or literal calories recovering from them.
Saying no becomes easier.
Your no is clear. Your yes is embodied.
You start performing less and being more.
You feel steadily more real and authentically you than youâve ever been.
And from that grounded place?
You are rewarded with soul-aligned creativity thatâs unlike anything youâve felt before.
THIS is fun. THIS is enlivening.
Q: What quietly dissolves once someone stops trying to emerge too early?
ANSWER: THE RUSHING. The urgency.
Suddenly, you donât care about time. Thatâs how you know youâve truly unattached.
And when youâve unattached, you know youâre floating in the void. And it is shockingly peaceful out there.
The view of the world (akaâfor this metaphorâthe view from the inside you start to have of your life) becomes so vivid and beautiful.
This is when wisdom pours in.
This is when your new self begins to re-organize quietly but fiercely.
Itâs so, so beautiful. And it can last for months.
You become radically unbotherable.
That being saidâŚ
You may get very stubborn about protecting your peace.
Because once you know how good it feels to trust this deeply you wonât have tolerance for anything that tries to drag you out.
That fierce protector-of-the-peace part? Sheâs my favorite midwife of this process.
PART III: đĽ Deprogramming âPerformative Healingâ & Trusting Inner Timing
đŹ Q: What changes when someone stops needing to look like theyâre transforming?
ANSWER: This is the ego.
The ego constantly asks: âIs this working?â
It craves signs that weâre doing it right.
It wants proof. Milestones. Recognition that the work âcounts.â
Itâs not evil, just scared of not being needed anymore.
Itâs trying to cling to identity even while itâs being asked to die.
And so we get caught performing our healing, or trying to become visible in our becoming, even if just to ourselves through âtrackingâ progress.
But something quiet and real happens when that part falls away.
You stop needing your story to make sense yet.
You donât need to write a tidy caption about it midway through.
You stop managing peopleâs perception of your healingâor monitoring your productivity (or lack thereof).
Instead, you get really really present.
Joy comes back in! And fun! Playfulness :) Peace.
Thatâs when life shifts. When youâre willing to let go of a timeline, you literally open up your life to the quantum realm. Release, and youâll feel resilience!
Q: How do you know your egoâs on board with your transformation rather than secretly running it?
ANSWER: When it doesnât need to explain it.
When you no longer feel the compulsion to âwrap it upâ in language right away.
When clarity is allowed to come in its own time.
When mystery isnât threatening just tender.
It means your nervous system is helping your ego soften.
Itâs discovering: thereâs survival in stillness, too. Not just in control, effort, or output.
I find that to get to this point, surrounding yourself with others who really get the medicine of the âletting goâ is important. People who will normalize that process for you â thatâs huge. It allows you to borrow their trust and stillness when you want to freak out and disrupt the natural flow.
This is why we are offering and creating a cohort for The Sacred Art of Coming Undone! We know that it can feel rare to be understood when youâre in an unraveling. We want to normalize this very feminine, very real ego-dismantling, and add social witnessing to it so that you can settle in and feel safe in your cocoon.
Q: What do you gain in your art, your presence, your relationships once you stop performing your progress?
ANSWER: Clarity. Creativity. Actual joy.
You are no longer exhausting yourself trying to be seen the ârightâ way. That energy instead goes inward toward expression that moves your actual soul, not your algorithm.
Youâre not rushing to be usable.
Youâre resting into inevitability.
Your art? Warmer.
Your time? Truer.
Your relationships? More magnetic because theyâre not rehearsed.
Youâre not holding the mic. Youâre emitting signal.
And that kind of presence?
Unmistakable.
Conclusion: Youâre Not Behind. Youâre Beneath.
If youâre in the place where nothing makes sense. Where you have stopped blooming and started molting. Where joy is quiet and time feels... ungraspable.
Youâre not lost.
Youâre in the becoming beneath.
Like Inanna, you are in a descent journey to the underworld. Trust that you left to go down there for the right reasons, and that it will be worth it. Weâve been there, and we know that who youâll be on the other side will bring you more joy, fulfillment and abundance than any self-help work/âimprovementsâ ever could.
You donât need to explain it yet.
You donât need to scale it, post it, or âclaimâ it more clearly.
Let the mystery midwife you.
Because when you stop trying to âemerge on time,â
Life begins building you from the inside out.
This is the part of the journey that isnât celebrated in dominant culture.
But here at Threshold Keepers? We name it.
We protect it.
We honor your unforming.
If you feel the pull to be held in that sacred un-becomingâŚ
to dissolve in real community and not just solo survival...
consider this your invitation.
Weâll begin The Sacred Art of Coming Undone on February 1.
Itâs not a course. Itâs a cohort of soul keepers.
Women who know theyâre not broken just in passage.
You can book a consult here.
No rush. No hard sell. Just resonance.
You are allowed to winter.
You are allowed to not be ready.
You are allowed to need a different kind of witness.
And weâll be right hereâ
lamplight on, incense lit, kettle warmâ
ready to keep the threshold with you.
About Us
Weâre Lizzie and HallieâLizzie guided women through postpartum transformations for seven years before Inannaâs story gave her the language for the deeper work sheâd been doing: identity death. Hallie was an engineer for 12 years before she had kids and discovered she needed to rebuild her internal world entirely. We both had our feminine awakenings in the postpartum portalâbetween miscarriages, births, and the deeply feminine thresholds of early motherhood. These became our own Inanna journeys. We share this work because it was medicine for us, and we feel deeply called to hold the thresholdâto help turn over the soil of whatâs dead and dying in our culture so we can alchemize ourselves, collectively, into something newly alive. We love Substack because thereâs substance here, and we acknowledge the substance in the writers all around us. We want our space here to be regenerative, to enrich the field of human consciousness, and to support this work in whatever way feels right to youâwhether thatâs reading, sharing, subscribing, or joining us directly in the descent work. Weâve made our own descents and know the journey intimatelyâthe gates, the shadows, the void, the return. Now we hold the threshold for other women navigating theirs.
